At the western end of the 6 km long sandy beach "Praia da Falésia", which is famous for its red sandstone cliffs, there is a golf course and several luxury hotels. In the off-season beach holiday season (approx. November to April) and thus in the main hiking season, overnight stays there are often very cheap or are offered including breakfast and dinner.
I was traveling in early April and had chosen the Falésia Hotel, a newly renovated 4-star hotel that is located in a park-like area a few hundred meters from the beach (Link: Falésia hotel).
To get there from the beach, you have to cross the huge hotel complex of the 5-star resort "Pine Cliffs". This path is worthwhile alone for the spectacular beach lift that leads up from a side gorge of the red cliff coast:
The Falesia Hotel was a very good choice for me: quite new rooms and bathrooms, lots of space and a quiet location (no large streets in the immediate vicinity). Depending on the season and the price level, the Hotel PortoBay Falesia (in the low season from € 60) or the Hotel Tui Blue Falesia (accommodation prices often including dinner) could also be interesting for other hikers (links: Hotel Porto Bay Falesia, Hotel Tui Blue Falesia).
