Corfu Trail km 10 stage 1 overnight stay in Kavos Hotel Olympion Village with pool

Corfu Trail: Accommodation stage 1

Stage 1: For anyone hiking the Corfu Trail, an overnight stay in Kavos is practically a must: This is the southern starting point of the Corfu Trail and, with the spectacular "White Cape," also the first highlight of this long-distance hike. The best way to get to the south of Corfu is by bus with Greenbuses (see practical information). We've adapted the first stage of the Corfu Trail into a half-day circular hike (see map). Advantage: Stage 1 can easily be included on the day of arrival...

Corfu Trail km 34 stage 2 overnight stay in Agios Georgios Mirsini Apartments

Corfu Trail: Accommodation stage 2

Stage 2: Planning overnight accommodations for Stage 2 was a bit more challenging for us, as there were very few accommodations available along this stretch. While an overnight stay in Gardenos (at km 26, see map) is possible and the town is wonderfully sleepy, making a reservation there was difficult for us for several reasons: Our first booking was rejected by the operator because the one-night stay was "too short." Our second booking, at a different accommodation in Gardenos...

Corfu Trail km 50 stage 3 overnight stay in Paramonas Hotel Paramonas

Corfu Trail: Accommodation stage 3

Stage 3: The hiking stage ends in Paramonas, a small, unpretentious seaside resort with several small guesthouses, such as the "Pension Skala" and the 3-star Hotel Paramonas pictured above (as of February 2018, not bookable/closed). Link: Pension Skala or Hotel Paramonas....

Corfu Trail km 64 Stage 4 Overnight at Dafnáta Costas Bar

Corfu Trail: Accommodation stage 4

Stage 4: Today we cross the island from west to east and should definitely stop in Dafnáta: firstly, from here, or from the nearby viewpoint, you have an excellent view of Corfu Town and the entire south of the island. Secondly, Kostas Bar Walkers Point is located here, run by a helpful Greek who, after many years abroad, is now dedicated to hiking tourism in his homeland and manages the southern section of the Corfu Trail (link: Kostas...

Corfu Trail km 78 Section 5 Overnight in Agios Gordios Sebastians Family Hotel Room with a view

Corfu Trail: Accommodation stage 5

Stage 5: Today we cross the island from east to west. The destination of this stage is Agios Gordios. Located in a sandy bay, Agios Gordios is a lively resort town, particularly popular with families, with many small and a few larger hotels. A change from the solitude and village idyll of Dafnáta... The selection of bars, ice cream parlors, and restaurants is correspondingly large. We can recommend "Sebastian's Family Hotel" in Agios Gordios, including its attached restaurant (link: Sebastian's Family...).

Corfu Trail km 96 Section 6 Overnight at Ermones Hotel Philoxenia

Corfu Trail: Accommodation stage 6

Stage 6: We recommend taking the bus early in the morning at the start of Stage 6 to avoid the somewhat tedious climb along the main access road. Bus schedule: www.greenbuses.gr / Line B10; departure time depends on the summer and winter schedules. You can then have breakfast in Sinarades, for example. The destination of Stage 6 is Ermones. Ermones is a small town on a fairly secluded bay, consisting almost exclusively of hotels and resorts. Nevertheless, it is not overcrowded, but rather tranquil: In Ermones...

Corfu Trail km 111 stage 7 Overnight stay in Paleokastritsa Hotel Akrotiri Beach Pool

Corfu Trail: Accommodation stage 7

Paleokastritsa is a larger town with several bays and its own harbor. There's a wide selection of privately run accommodations and a few hotels here. The 4-star Akrotiri Beach Hotel boasts a spectacular location on a headland at the entrance to the town. It's not brand new, but rather noticeably "partially renovated" (a brand new pool, nice rooms, although the bathrooms are a bit dated; link: Akrotiri Beach). However, there are numerous worthwhile restaurants very close to the Akrotiri Beach Hotel, and the...

Corfut Trail km 119 great highlight at the end with a view of the bay of Agios Georgios in the northwest of Corfu

Corfu Trail: Accommodation stage 8

Stage 8: At the end of Stage 8, the Corfu Trail turns east inland. We ended our hike at this point after the magnificent descent to Agios Georgios Pagon in northwest Corfu. There are numerous overnight accommodations at the elongated bay of Agios Georgios Pagon (link: Hotels in Agios Georgios Pagon). With appropriate planning, a return bus ride to Corfu Town that same afternoon is also possible (see www.greenbuses.gr, e.g., with line...

Corfu Trail Great view of the bathing bays in Corfu town

Corfu town: worth seeing old town - UNESCO world cultural heritage

We only briefly visited Corfu Town on our arrival and departure flights and unfortunately didn't stay overnight. However, we believe the beautiful old town, with its many well-kept and well-groomed restaurants, bars, and cafés, is worth an overnight stay. There are truly many beautiful corners to discover in Corfu Town, and of course, a wide selection of boutique hotels, romantic guesthouses, and beautiful hotels (link: Hotels in Corfu Town).

Hotel Bella Mare Corfu Island Avlaki Kassiopi fantastic location on Avlaki Beach

Hotel Bella Mare in the northeast of Corfu

Looking for a place to relax after strenuous days of hiking on the Corfu Trail, we chose a beautiful hotel in Kassiopi in northeastern Corfu. The family-run 4-star Hotel Bella Mare on Corfu has given itself the slogan "serious relaxing": They take relaxation seriously here! Link: Hotel Bella Mare. This is reflected in the spacious rooms and suites, decorated in light colors and a pleasantly understated country-house style. For...
