Ligurian coast Cinque Terre long-distance hike Stage 1 Accommodation in Camogli 4

Accommodation in Camogli

The Ligurian coastal town of Camogli lies – squeezed between mountains and sea – directly on the edge of the "Parco Naturale Regionale di Portofino." Despite the dense development, some of which are quite tall, Camogli is very picturesque: Facade painting has a long tradition here and gives the town an almost magnificent appearance. The Hotel La Camogliese is housed in one of the ornately decorated buildings. I highly recommend it! The hotel's plus points, in my opinion, are the newly renovated rooms and bathrooms,...

Accommodation in Sestri Levante

On my hike, I didn't stay overnight in Sestri Levante, but instead took the train from Camogli in the morning (about 30 minutes by regional train). My favorite place to stay in Sestri Levante, however, would have been the guesthouse "Calma di Vento": It's located on the edge of the old town on the upper floor of an olive oil factory with a showroom and tours (left: B&B Calma di Vento, olive oil: Frantoio Bo).

Accommodation in Moneglia

Since I almost always prefer well-reviewed guesthouses to regular hotels, my first choice in Moneglia would actually have been the B&B Fronte Mare (link: B&B Fronte Mare). However, since it was fully booked, the Hotel Mondial Moneglia had to serve as a replacement—also a very good choice! The hotel has made the most of its challenging location on the side of a hilltop facing away from the sea: The two building sections are arranged and connected by terraces so that the upper hotel garden...

Ligurian coast Cinque Terre long-distance hike Stage 3 Accommodation in Bonassola 3

Accommodation in Bonassola

Bonassola is a small, charming seaside resort on the Ligurian coast. Nestled in a panoramic, mid-altitude location is the Hotel Villa Belvedere, where I stayed for two nights on my hike (link: Hotel Villa Belvedere). The name says it all: The view is beautiful, and so are the rooms. Breakfast is served on the terrace in good weather. A great place to unwind! In addition to the beautiful beach with numerous beach bars, perfect for an aperitivo, there are...

Accommodation in Monterosso al Mare

Monterosso al Mare is the first stop of the "Cinque Terre" on our long-distance hike. There are two options for overnight accommodation: Those interested in a great view and willing to spend the night outside of town should consider the "Albergo Suisse Bellevue" (link: Albergo Suisse Bellevue). This 3-star hotel is located about 2 km from the actual destination. I preferred to stay overnight in Monterosso al Mare on my long-distance hike – specifically at the hotel...

Ligurian coast Cinque Terre long-distance hike, stage 5 Riomaggiore 05

Accommodation in Riomaggiore

Riomaggiore is the last of the Cinque Terre and the overnight stop on Stage 5. Riomaggiore consists of two districts located in two adjacent bays, connected by a pedestrian tunnel. The smaller bay houses the train station, while the larger one houses the harbor and the main street with many bars, restaurants, hotels, and guesthouses. On my hike, I stayed at the guesthouse "La Dolce Vita," located in the upper third of the main street and consisting of three floors with three rooms. Spacious...

Accommodation in Porto Venere

Porto Venere lies at the tip of the peninsula that borders the Gulf of La Spezia. Porto Venere's unmistakable landmark is the Church of San Pietro, picturesquely perched on a rocky outcrop with its horizontally striped stone facade. After six strenuous days of hiking, this is the place to relax and enjoy yourself! In the late afternoon sun and at dusk, Porto Venere is particularly attractive—it's worth spending the night here. I highly recommend the guesthouse "La Calata":...
