Corfu Trail: Accommodation stage 2

Stage 2: When planning the overnight stay, stage 2 was a bit more of a challenge for us, since very few accommodations were available on this section. An overnight stay in Gardenos (at km 26, see Map) is possible and the place was wonderfully overslept, but making a reservation there was difficult for us for several reasons: Our first booking was rejected by the operator because the stay with only one night was "too short". Our second booking in another accommodation in Gardenos worked, but the communication was very cumbersome: the operator does not speak English, so an agency was interposed and a down payment was required. Breakfast was not available at the accommodation ...

Therefore: We recommend spending the night in Agios Georgios on day 2. Attention: on Corfu there are two places with this name - what is meant here is the southern "Agios Georgios", which is elongated between km 33 and km 36). That results in a day's stage of around 24 km. Since the hiking trail on stage 2 is mostly flat and easy to walk, we believe this should be feasible.

Those who stay in Agios Georgios have a wide selection of guest houses and family-run bed and breakfasts. We stayed in the Mirsini Apartments: very well-kept, lovingly looked after rooms with new bathrooms, own kitchen and access to the garden or balcony (Link: Mirsini Apartments)

With a little luck and patience, an overnight stay in Gardenos a few kilometers away is also possible, but in our experience the level of comfort there is significantly lower. For example Studio Euthymia: Overnight without breakfast, unadorned, simple rooms with a surrounding balcony.
