We have developed independent online hiking guides for many long-distance hikes, including detailed stage planning, route, free route download, accommodation recommendations, information on arrival and departure and much more.

Our collection also includes some other long-distance hikes (marked on the map with a symbol in turquoise) that have been recommended to us by other hikers or that we want to hike ourselves. We are happy to accept further ideas and suggestions!

Liguria: Cinque Terre Coastal Hike (6 Days)

One of Italy's most beautiful and diverse stretches of coast lies in Liguria, between Genoa and La Spezia: nestled between mountains and sea, surrounded by cliffs and sandy bays, traditional seaside resorts, small fishing villages, and sophisticated marinas alternate here. The highlight of the region is, of course, the Cinque Terre, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997. This 6-day long-distance hike follows the route of the "Sentiero Liguria," beginning in the coastal town of Camogli on the edge of the Portofino peninsula and ending in Porto Venere near La Spezia. Through...

Malta & Gozo: Malta / Gozo Coastal Hike (6 Days)

The island of Gozo is probably one of the lesser-known and more exotic travel destinations. Where this island actually lies only becomes clear to many when the phrase "Malta's neighboring island" is mentioned. Geographically, Malta and Gozo lie in the Mediterranean, south of Sicily and thus on the same latitude as Tunisia. From October to May, temperatures are generally pleasant for a hiking holiday, yet the small island state of Malta is rarely associated with hiking holidays. Malta is better known for language courses (English!)...

Piedmont: hiking from winery to winery

For many years, I've dreamed of combining two of my passions on a single vacation: hiking and wine! We've finally realized this idea and explored one of Italy's most famous wine regions on a long-distance hike: the Langhe region in Piedmont. Two of Italy's most renowned wines, Barolo and Barbaresco, are grown there. The long-distance hike takes you from Asti to Alba in six stages through the lovely hilly landscape of the Langhe, past vineyards and hazelnut plantations. As befits a...

GR-51: Marseille Coastal Path (5 days)

Narrow paths high above the steep coast, cliffs almost 400 meters high, views of fjords and the deep blue sea: The view of this landscape almost brings to mind Norway – were it not for the numerous vineyards, the Mediterranean climate, and the southern French way of life everywhere. How does this fit together? The answer to the riddle: We're talking about the area around Marseille, to the south of which stretches the Calanque massif. This small mountain range is characterized by its spectacular, fjord-like bays and rugged little...

CAI-300: The Amalfi Coast on foot (6 days)

Italy's Amalfi Coast is one of the most famous cliffs in the world, attracting travelers from all over the world with its quintessentially Italian charm! Between Salerno in the east and Sorrento in the west lie many small villages and seaside resorts—each one more picturesque than the last. Greece: The Corfu Trail (7-9 days)

The Greek island of Corfu has many different faces: The island's diverse topography provides miles of sandy beaches and secluded pebble coves with crystal-clear waters, and the hiking trails along Corfu's many cliffs often offer truly breathtaking panoramas! Algarve: Coastal Walk from Faro west (6-7 days)

Inspired by a travel report by Werner (Link), the dream of a coastal hike in the Algarve has been on my mind for a long time: The core of this idea is the fact that the airport Faro It's just a few hundred meters as the crow flies from the sea, and you can step off the plane and start hiking right away! The conditions for a spontaneous long-distance coastal hike in the Algarve are ideal for two reasons: Little planning is required: Accommodation is plentiful in the Algarve. If you...

Azores: circular hike on Santa Maria (5 days)

On the small Azores island of Santa Maria, an approximately 80-kilometer-long circumnavigation has recently been launched. What's special about this five-day hike: overnight stays in lovingly renovated former shepherds' huts, with meals and luggage transport available upon request. Since there are few overnight accommodations on the island, which has a population of approximately 5, a continuous circumnavigation was not possible before the stone huts were renovated. Thanks to the private initiative of Ioannis and Rita, who purchased and renovated the huts and...

Turkey: The Lycian Way

Hiking tourism is truly still in its infancy in Turkey. Only since the late 90s has a Turkish long-distance hiking trail existed at all: the Lycian Way. The Lycian Way, with its approximately 500 kilometers of length, was initiated by the English hiking pioneer Kate Clow. Its name is derived from the Lycian tribe, who settled the coastal region in ancient times. To this day, numerous ruins and half-submerged cities bear witness to this time. The Lycian Way begins near...

Portugal: Rota Vicentina (fishing path)

The Rota Vicentina—and especially the Fishermen's Trail—has been recommended to us by many other hikers and is now at the top of our personal hiking holiday wish list! The long-distance hiking trail "Rota Vicentia" in southwest Portugal actually consists of two different, parallel hiking routes: The Fishermen's Trail ("Trilho dos Pescadores") begins at Porto Covo and runs directly along the Atlantic coast. The Historic Trail ("Caminho Histórico"), on the other hand, begins in Santiago do Cacém and runs mostly inland. In the final third, the two trails intersect...

Corsica: GR 20

The GR 20 long-distance hiking trail is the classic among French long-distance trails: It runs from north to south across the island of Corsica, crossing the Corsican high mountains, which consist of 50 peaks over 20 meters. Accordingly, the GR 1.300 is a difficult, high-alpine long-distance trail that can only be completed with extremely good fitness, careful planning, and good equipment! The majority of the route runs between 2.600 and XNUMX meters in altitude and is far from civilization. Hotels and guesthouses are available on...

Menorca: GR 223 ("Camí de Cavalls")

The "Camí de Cavalls" long-distance hiking trail has long been on our vacation wish list: On this 185 km long long-distance trail, the entire island of Menorca can be circumnavigated on foot in approximately 10 stages. This long-distance hike on Menorca has been recommended to us by many other hikers and is probably a must-do for lovers of circumnavigating the island (along with La Gomera). "Camí de Cavalls" is the Catalan name for the Spanish long-distance hiking trail GR 223. Translated, this means "horse path" and hints at the trail's historical roots...

Mallorca: GR 221 (Dry Wall Trail)

Mallorca is one of the most popular travel destinations in Europe, probably due to the island's diversity. There's also a real highlight for long-distance hiking enthusiasts: the GR 221 long-distance hiking trail, nicknamed "Ruta de Pedra en Sec" (Dry Stone Wall Route). The GR 221 runs along the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range. It crosses the island from southwest to northeast, covering approximately 130 km. The map below is helpful when booking accommodation. For booking overnight stays in mountain huts such as...
