Stage 4: From Bonassola to Monterosso al Mare

Stage 4 finally leads to the famous Cinque Terre - namely to "Monterosso al Mare", the first or last of the five world-famous villages, depending on how you look at it. First, however, our hiking trail leads from Bonassola over a ridge to Levanto. At this point at the latest, you should stock up on provisions, as there are no other places to stop for refreshments along the way. Shortly before the end of the Levanto promenade, the hiking trail turns left (watch out for the last archway and watch out for hiking markings!). From here the path leads upwards and we enter the area of the Cinque Terre National Park (UNESCO World Heritage Site) for the first time. The view increases slowly to the highest point of the hike (Punta Mesco): When the weather is clear, the view extends over the entire coast of the Cinque Terre!

The stage destination "Monterosso al Mare" also offers great opportunities for a walk in the evening sun. In particular, the area around the "Torre Aurora" tower and the viewpoint above the tower are very worthwhile!

Practical info: If necessary, you can already buy the Cinque Terre Card at the train station in "Monterosso al Mare", which you need on stage 5 (for more information see: The Cinque Terre Card).

You can find my recommendations for pensions and hotels at the stage finish here: Accommodation in Monterosso al Mare.
