If you climb one of the many hills or mountains, you can enjoy an incomparable view of the nearby mountains of the Albanian mainland from almost anywhere!
Corfu is on the one hand a classic holiday destination for package tourists and has a suitable offer for almost all price ranges, on the other hand it is so lonely and sleepy in some places that it is difficult to believe.
The island's capital shines with its UNESCO-listed old town and is also a popular destination for many Mediterranean cruises. In contrast, in Corfu's rural south, tourism is still in its infancy in many places.
The entire island can be hiked on the Corfu Trail
Those who hike the island on the Corfu Trail created in 2001 can expect contrasts: from the party zone it is just a few steps to the secluded sandy beach, one day you spend the night in a stylish boutique hotel, the other day in a simple one and cheap bed & breakfast, which serves as the only starting point for a hiking stage. Overwhelming views of crystal clear water and beautiful bathing bays alternate with the omnipresent sight of half-finished shell structures. Some may find this dreary or annoying.
