The long-distance hiking trail GR 221 in Mallorca
Mallorca is one of the most popular travel destinations in Europe, which is probably due to the versatility of this island. There is also a real highlight for long-distance hiking fans: the GR 221 long-distance hiking trail, nicknamed "Ruta de Pedra en Sec" (route of the dry stone walls).
The GR 221 runs along the mountain range "Serra de Tramuntana". It crosses the island from the south-west to the north-east over a distance of approx. 130 km. The map below is helpful when booking accommodation. The following website is available in several languages for booking accommodation in mountain huts such as the "Tossals Verds" hut in the northern part of the hiking route: https://seu.conselldemallorca.net/refugis/en/dispo/llistat/.
The GR 221 is right at the top of our personal to-do list. As soon as we have hiked it, more information will follow here. Until then, only the most important basics for the long-distance hiking trail.

Dear Frank, I came across this blog while looking for a hiking trail on the Ligurian coast: I think it's wonderful, especially because someone has a similar attitude towards hiking as we do.
