Nice-Grasse: Stage 5

Long Distance Hiking Nice Grasse 0107

Map for stage 5

Directions

The last stage of our long-distance hike leads from Le Bar-sour-Loup Grasse and runs largely on the GR51 long-distance hiking trail. Since this hiking trail runs at a height of approx. 600m, a small climb is necessary from Le Bar-sour-Loup. Shortly before Grasse then it goes downhill accordingly.

On our hiking tour, we had to deal with very heavy rain on this stage and had to reschedule at short notice. So instead, we're along the road to Grasse hiked and can report neither with impressive photos nor with a real experience report of this stage. Nevertheless, we pass on our originally planned stage here, since this route makes much more sense than a hike along the road.

In Grasse Once arrived, our route crosses the old town and then leads to the railway station, which is located much lower. Who is interested in the world of fragrances can in Grasse - the so-called world capital of perfume - take part in one of the free tours that many fragrance manufacturers offer here.

Return by train

From Grasse, the destination of our long-distance hike, we take the regional train back to Nice. The route is served at least once an hour, so you can get back to Nice Airport in about 1 hour without changing trains.

Plan days of relaxation by the sea

Much more interesting than an overnight stay in Grasse or the direct way back to Nice Airport is to plan an overnight stop on the coast on the way back. Places like Cannes, Juan-les-Pins or Antibes can be reached from Grasse can be reached without changing trains and are ideal for a few days of relaxation after the hike. If you spend two or three nights in Cannes or the surrounding area, you can also go on a great half-day hike in the Esterel massif at the end of your hiking holiday:
