Hiking from winery to winery in Piedmont: overview of the stages
The long-distance hike leads in six daily stages from Asti via Barbaresco and Barolo to Alba. The numerous wineries in the region offer an ideal accommodation option.

Hello Neta,
yes of course, that is possible! In this case I would start in Alba and hike stages 3 to 6 or 4 to 6 from there. From Alba to the starting point of the stage there is then an additional 2 hours of hiking time (if necessary, plan for the day of arrival).

We have already done many of your hikes and have always received excellent advice and guidance from your tips and GPS tracks. Thank you for that in general and I hope you will come up with many more tour suggestions.
We have just come back from the Piedmont Tour (September 18-24, 2022) and would like to give you a quick feedback on how it went. The tracks of the individual stages all worked fine again (we use Komoot). However, the accommodations are well booked throughout the tour, which may also be due to the fact that we only dealt with the bookings a week in advance.
In summary, we had sun throughout, maybe a bit too warm (on one day we had 30 degrees). As everywhere in Europe, the summer was much too dry, so the paths between the vineyards were dusty. The asphalt paths, which are rarely used by cars, are also pleasant. There are often other fruit trees in the vineyards and we have never been so well stocked with ripe, super sweet persimmons, peaches, plums of all kinds, hazelnuts and walnuts and of course grapes. So the time was ideal. In general, try to look for accommodation with breakfast and dinner, as many restaurants are closed at this time. Stage 6 is great up to Roddi, after that not anymore, but somehow you have to get to Alba. You do need to be fit, also because it was warm and there were always ups and downs. This gives you a wonderful overview of the tour you have covered (e.g. in Verduno you have the whole view of the tour in front of you again).
But from the beginning. We took up Klaus' comment and stayed at the "I Suri" agriturismo and also left our car there, as the parking spaces in Asti didn't seem so safe to us. Accommodation is great and now with a pool (if you like it). Food cheap and tasty. After that and one after the other we stayed in the "Cascina San Michele" (amazing view from the terrace with our own wine and small snacks, but not cheap and no warm dinner. We walked down to Costigliole d'Asti). Stage 2 to Barbaresco and accommodation "Rabaya" (good rooms and excellent food). We have combined stages 3 and 4 and had to shorten them. We took a taxi to Treiso and then stayed at "La Briccola" (a bit out of the way, but the landlady Ivana makes up for everything. As a sommelier, she has been running your agriturismo for 20 years and is really the show. Good, not expensive and own wine). Stage 5 via Barolo to La Morra to "Il Grappolo Vacanze" just outside but nice and clean (with pool and restaurant Nesto nearby. Stage 6 to Alba and by bus back to Asti, then by taxi to the starting point "Agriturismo I Suri".

Thank you for your great feedback (which I unfortunately read much too late)! I am very pleased that you enjoyed your stay in Piedmont!
The idea of parking your car at "Agriturismo I Suri" seems to have become the standard solution :-) I always think it's great when the hiking tour is fine-tuned and supplemented afterwards.
I look forward to hearing from you again soon. Do you already know where to go next year?

I have read this with interest. I visited Piedmont last year with my husband and some friends and we visited many towns and villages from our base La Villa in Mombaruzzo. I fell in love with the area and have decided to make it a stop over with some walking friends as we make our way from Nice to the UK. I am looking for a circular walk which will take say 3/4 hours and take in walks through a vineyard. We will be arriving from Nice in the morning and staying in the area overnight – we are not too fussy about our accommodation but a restaurant within or nearby is essential. We have looked at some vineyards which offer accommodation which might suit or possibly one of the small towns such as Barolo? We might also take in a walk the following morning. Does anything come to mind??
