Wine hiking in Piedmont: stage 1

Since the hiking trail network in this region is poorly marked, we strongly recommend the use of a GPS-compatible device / smartphone in conjunction with the route information in the GPX file format.

For stage 1 we have prepared the following orientation information - based on the waypoints shown on the map and GPX file (see Downloads):

• Starting point: The starting point of the long-distance hike is the Asti train station.
• Waypoint 1: To get to the bridge that leads out of the station from the station, you first have to go under the bridge, behind it a footpath leads to the bridge.
• Waypoint 2: After crossing the Tanaro river, we leave the main road.
• Waypoint 3: Keep left here and continue on the gravel path.
• Waypoint 4: The path leads left around the ridge.
• Waypoint 5: Panificio Penna: bakery and mini supermarket.
• Waypoint 6: Metal figure (artwork).
• Waypoint 7: Shortly after the metal work of art, we turn right onto a panoramic path.
• Waypoint 8: Viewpoint at the Chiesa di San Pietro.
• Waypoint 9: Here sharp left.
• Waypoint 10: At the chain link fence with the badge 'Acquedotto Valtiglione SpA' you go left across the meadow.
• Waypoint 11: After about 150m right again (left past the bushes).
• Waypoint 12: Accommodation: Cascina San Michele winery".
